About AVA

AVA provides access to a world of European and international cinema from the comfort of your own living room. AVA users can stream a unique selection of arthouse features, world-class documentaries and acclaimed and award-winning short films from a selection of titles not commonly available on other mainstream VOD platforms.

AVA works closely with some of Europe’s most renowned film festivals and distributors to curate a unique viewing experience, focussed on quality content and targeted towards the interests of local library users. AVA began in 2016 as an EU-funded project and is now available in a number of libraries and cultural institutions across Europe. AVA film selections are curated with the help of local film experts in each region, and tailored towards the needs of local demographics.

To create this exclusive offer for the University Library of Bern users, we worked closely with Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival from Belgrade and Czech documentary film festival Ji.hlava IDFF. With the support of our film festival partners and local film experts, we have curated Focus Selections through which users can browse by theme and topic. These selections can be found in the dropdown menu (top left) along with Film Type and genre navigation functions. The carousels on our home page highlight particular areas of interest within the film selection.
